Good Morning Brothers and Sisters…

Today is July 14th. In 50 days, hunting season will be open. Not sure why, but I have an anticipation for the upcoming season. I feel like I am taking a posture of ‘foreseeing’. I am sitting here thinking about friends of mine that are battling illness, considering new ministry opportunities and some who are considering walking away from existing ministries. Doors open and doors close, pathways become apparent and some seem to be covered in impassable overgrowth.  As one season draws near, the current season begins to fade. Not sure why, but I get the sense that God is positioning His soldiers on the sand tables that continually tell the story of the battle between good and evil. Our role is to stand in line and await our orders, as our General, Jesus Christ, sends His Spirit to instruct us on our marching orders.

Before General Jesus ascended into heaven to sit at God the Father’s right hand, He told His soldiers to return to Jerusalem to await their marching orders.

Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”    Acts 1:4-5

12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away. 13 When they had entered the city, they went up to the upper room where they were staying; that is, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James. 14 These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.  Acts 1:12-14

As they waited for their orders, they prayed. And prayed. And prayed some more. The day that the Holy Spirit descended and fell on them was 50 days after General Jesus rose from the grave and officially ripped the power away from death and fear and gave it back to life and love. His instructions to His soldiers to ‘wait’ didn’t include a date or a specific time. In fact, when asked, He answered the question in this manner, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”  Acts 1:7-8

I am not sure why this message hit me this morning. I am not sure why I have an anticipation for the next season that just happens to be 50 days away…I only know that my heart is heavy with prayer. I ‘foresee’ a new season approaching where God is positioning His soldiers to pour out His Spirit again. I ‘foresee’ new opportunities for my brothers and sisters to serve God. I ‘foresee’ the closing of existing ministries which have lost their life for reasons only known to God and portrayed on the great sand tables of the ever changing conflict between good and evil. I ‘foresee’ miracles of healing. I ‘foresee’ joy and laughter. I ‘foresee’ the Kingdom moving forward and taking ground in the upcoming season.

May we ready ourselves for the orders, the marching orders that come with power, the power that comes with the Spirit, the Spirit that comes from our General Jesus…may we ready ourselves through prayer. And then pray some more.  Blessings my friends…be ready!
